What We Do

Our procedures are very dog-centred so we don´t have a fixed protocol. These are the basic things that we always do for every dog but not necessarily in this order. Each stage, of course, has a cost!

VET HEALTH CHECK AND DE-PARASITISATION
(worming and flea and tick protection and prevention)

BLOOD TESTS
especially for Mediterranean diseases and Leishmaniosis, and any medical treatment that follows. Blood tests for leish may not be done for a puppy as they are not reliable due to the mother´s antibodies.

VACCINATIONS
Two cocktail vaccinations against the main dog diseases.
Rabies vaccination and micro-chip. It is illegal for any vet to chip a dog without vaccinating it against rabies.
Spaying / castration of the dog.

PASSPORT
for international travel a dog needs a passport which has to be completed and checked by an official government vet before the dog can travel.
Puppies cannot be homed internationally until they are at least 4 months old and suitably vaccinated with passport.

THIS ALL ADDS UP TO A SIGNIFICANT COST PER DOG AND IS WHY WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR FUNDS AND FUND-RAISERS!
